Links

Use this window to create links. You can assign these links to portals. The Links toolbar allows you to create, edit, and delete links.

Create a Link entry

You can Create a new Link by providing the required information in the pane that appears when selecting this icon.

Save changes made to the entry

Saves the changes made to the link entry selected

Delete this entry

Deletes the corresponding link entry selected

Refresh the list

Refreshes the list

Display Previous Entry

Use this icon to navigate to the previous entry in the list. You can use this icon to navigate the list until the first entry is reached. This icon is disabled when the first entry in the list is reached.

Display Next Entry

Use this icon to navigate to the next entry in the list. You can use this icon to navigate the list until the last entry is reached. This icon is disabled when the last entry in the list is reached.

 

Creating a Link entry

You can create a link by providing the required information into the pane that appears when selecting the Create a new entry icon.

Name

Enter a name for the link.

Request Method

You can specify any of the following HTTP client methods to retrieve an HTML page.

  • GET:  Use this for simple retrieval of data.

For Example: GET can involve submission of comments on to a form.

  • POST: Use this for complex retrieval of data.

For Example: POST can involve actions, such as  storing or updating data, ordering a product, or sending email.

Description

Enter optional text, usually indicating the purpose of the link.

URL Pane

Enter a URL corresponding to the link.

Undo

Reverts back to previous changes. You can revert back to as many changes as you prefer until the Undo option is disabled.

Redo

Proceeds to the next change that was undone. You can redo as many changes that were undone as you prefer until the Redo option is disabled.

Insert Merge Field

Select this icon, if you want to insert a merge field into your message. After selecting this button, specify leading text or trailing text or both to appear before and after the merge field to form a customized sentence.

 

Default Value

Specify alternate text to appear when the URL specified in the URL pane is incorrect or unavailable.

Each link created is listed with their respective URLs and descriptions in the Links pane. On selecting an entry, information pertaining to that entry is opened in the Link pane.

Note: If Response is integrated with Response Live, the following three links are the default entries shown in the links page, which is subsequently assigned to the portals pane:

Editing a Link

You can modify a link detail by selecting a link entry and changing the required link field information. After editing the details, click the Save changes made to the entry icon to save the changes made.
