About KANA Classifier

The Classifier component aids in the management and administration of KANA Classify. It will only appear when a Classify license component is present within the Response license key.

Verify Classify Engine

This section displays the status of the connection between Response and the Classify Engine.  During normal operations, the status light is green and the status message displays "Connection to classify engine verified okay." If there are communication issues with the Classify Engine, the status light will turn red and an appropriate status message will appear.  If you modify the content of the "classify.xml" configuration file, you  need to click the "Reread properties file" so the Response server will refresh the Classify settings. Clicking "Verify connection" will cause the Response server to re-verify its connection with the Classify engine.

Message Export and Training

In this section, you can take existing categorized messages and train the Classify engine based on the your selection of categories and date ranges. You select the categories for which training will occur, then select the start and end date ranges for completed messages which were categorized with the selected categories.

To Bulk Train Messages

  1. In the Message Export and Training section, select the categories of messages for training.

  2. Select the date range by typing in a Start Date and an End Date.

  3. Choose the maximum number of messages per category to train. The default value is 50.

    1. If the categories do not exist on the Classify engine, they will be automatically created during training.

    2. Selecting the Disable automatic creation of categories during training check box overrides this behavior.

  4. Click Train. A progress bar displays the progression of the training. The training process may take several minutes for large numbers of categories.

Category Synchronization

This last section provides an overall view of the categories that exist on the Response server and the Classify engine. In this section you can create or remove categories from the Classify engine.

Note: The above GUI components will only appear if a Classify license component is present, and the parameter USE_CLASSIFY is set TRUE in the classify.xml configuration file.
